A significant fire broke out at Restaurant Diamond in Bucharest’s Sector 4 on Monday, prompting a large emergency response. The blaze was reported on Calea Piscului and has affected several connected halls of the establishment, according to the Bucharest-Ilfov Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISU).

ISU said the fire was “generalised” and carried a risk of spreading to nearby buildings. In response, firefighters sent 12 water and foam tenders, two aerial appliances for high-rise rescue, one extrication vehicle, the Special Rescue Detachment and two SMURD ambulance crews to the scene.

No victims have been found so far, the emergency services reported. Firefighters were still working to extinguish the flames at the time of writing, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

The restaurant, situated in the southern part of Bucharest, appears to consist of multiple adjoining dining halls. The fire has produced significant smoke, and local residents and people in the area are advised to keep windows closed and avoid the immediate vicinity while crews operate.
